The 25th Winter Olympic Games are not only a sporting highlight, but also an enormous challenge for mobility in the region. Livigno, which will host freestyle events such as skiing and snowboard cross, half-pipe, big air and aerials, will see lots of attendees every day during the games – on peak days, over 4,000 people are expected to travel through the canton of Graubünden. The topographical conditions and limited access to Livigno will place special demands on the transport system.
Transport concept with PostBus as a key partner
The Canton of Graubünden has drawn up a comprehensive transport concept for the duration of the Winter Games. As part of the schedule, PostBus will provide a shuttle service from Zernez and Müstair to Livigno.
The Munt la Schera tunnel will be closed to regular traffic during the Games and may only be used with the relevant permit. The shuttle buses operate in a three-bus convoy system (three Postbuses in a row), enabling controlled, efficient transportation. Services include journeys from Zernez and express journeys from Müstair.
PostBus will be operating 30 vehicles during the Games. 31 drivers from the Unterland region will be supporting the operation and will be accommodated in Zernez, Müstair and S-chanf for the duration of the Olympics. In addition, bus managers and customer assistance staff will be in place at all locations to look after guests on site and ensure a smooth, coordinated process.
Arrival and shuttle service
We recommend using public transport to get there. The Rhaetian Railway (RhB) is laying on more services, particularly in the morning and evening. The departure times of the shuttle buses are coordinated with the arrivals and departures of the Rhaetian Railway. You can only travel by car to the Park+Ride locations in Landquart, Zernez and Müstair. From there, you will need to take the Rhaetian Railway and shuttle buses. The parking fee in Zernez and Müstair is 70 francs + VAT. The normal fare regulations and sales channels apply to public transport tickets.
Depending on the events and expected visitor numbers, the shuttle buses between Zernez/Müstair and Livigno will run with varying daily service frequency, and will, in some cases be supplemented with further buses and additional buses departing earlier and later.
The current timetable can be viewed online and in the SBB app:
- Zernez – Livigno – Zernez: up to every 15 minutes
- Müstair – Livigno – Müstair: every 30 minutes
