A true paradise for outdoor activities, the Valais boasts nearly 9,000 km of hiking trails, more than 4,300 km of cycle routes and nine spa resorts. As a destination, it’s a firm favourite with lovers of nature, relaxation and local specialities. While the sun-kissed Rhone plain is a great place to explore the foot of the peaks, the heights offer spectacular views.
From August 30 to September 14, 2025, Valais is set to host the 2025 UCI Mountain Bike World Championships. Athletes and spectators alike will gather at the host destinations: Crans-Montana (cross-country), the Dents du Midi (downhill), Aletsch Arena (Enduro, E-Enduro, E-XC mountain biking), Verbier and Val d’Anniviers (marathon), Monthey (pump track), Zermatt (short track). Each will become the world center of mountain biking in its respective discipline.
